State legislation related to healthcare public reporting

In West Virginia the Legislature passed a bill (SB 457) in April 2017 to close the West Virginia Health Care Authority (WVHCA). As of July 1, 2017 the WVHCA will no longer exist and data collection will end at this point. One of the operations of the WVHCA was the collection, analysis, and dissemination of health care financial and clinical data to assess utilization, access, costs, and quality. CompareCareWV, a project of the WVHCA, provided information on West Virginia hospital charges and patient quality care indicators.
