Two tools from Kaiser Health News:
Look-Up Infection Risk Factors: Explore infections risk factors at nursing homes in your state. This tool tracks infection-related deficiencies and staffing levels for nursing homes that take Medicare and/or Medicaid, pinpointing sepsis risk by site. These deficiencies, which increase the risk of sepsis, are cited in federal inspection reports and shown here. They relate to bedsores, catheters, feeding tubes, and the home’s required infection prevention and control program.
Look-Up: Check Out Infection Records Of 15,000 U.S. Nursing Homes: This tool shows federal inspection citations for nursing homes that violated infection-control and prevention guidelines in the more than 15,000 facilities that accept Medicare or Medicaid patients KHN analyzed the Nursing Home Compare database from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as of February 2020, which details the “deficiencies” or citations that each nursing home receives when inspected. Only violations of a home’s infection control program from the previous two cycles, spanning four years, are included.
