The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) is the independent, government-mandated source of information about private healthcare in England, working to empower patients to make better-informed choices of care provider. It provides data on a number of different performance measures for each hospital facility on quality and safety. This website contains performance measures for over 400 hospitals and 2,000 consultants providing privately funded healthcare. Consumers can compare hospitals performance. Measures reported on the performance of orthopaedic surgeons, general surgeons and ophthalmologists includes the number of patients that each consultant treats by procedure, along with their average length of stay. These are the first of up to 11 measures that PHIN is required to publish under their mandate from the Competition & Markets Authority.
