According to the latest report from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), patients across Canada continue to wait longer for hip and knee replacements compared with before the pandemic.
The report – Surgeries impacted by COVID-19: An update on volumes and wait times – found that despite ongoing efforts to reduce surgical backlogs, almost 40% of patients who required a hip or knee replacement, or a cataract surgery, did not have their procedure done within the recommended time frame in 2022.
