In 2016, the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) entered into a partnership to monitor and report on the quality of cardiac care that Canadians were receiving across the country. Six years later, this initiative is coming to an end — and the decision to stop reporting is based on the high quality of cardiac care across Canada today.
The collaboration between CIHI and CCS catalyzed the review and revision of Cardiac Care quality indicators (CCQIs). The CIHI annual reports from 2017 to 2022 helped share best practices, made data more accessible to health professionals in the field and clearly demonstrated the marked improvements in the quality of cardiac care across Canada, year after year.
