The Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI) supports health services move to daily reporting of health incident data, helping to improve the safety and quality of health care delivered in Victoria’s public health services.

From 30 June 2022, Victorian public health services are required to report against the Victorian Health Incident Management System Minimum Dataset 2 (VHIMS 2 MDS), a standardised dataset designed to collect clinical and occupational health and safety incidents, near misses and hazards.

Over 80% of public health services are now able to transmit these data to the Victorian Department of Health, either via the VHIMS Central Solution platform or with VHIMS Application Programming Interface (API) adjustments to their own risk management and reporting software.  The goal is now for all health services to begin daily reporting of the VHIMS 2 MDS within the next 12 months.
