New release from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW): GEN – Residential Aged Care Quality Indicators July to September 2021.
Quality indicators measure aspects of service provision that contribute to the quality of care given by residential aged care services. The National Mandatory Quality Indicator Program (QI Program) requires residential aged care services to collect and report on pressure injuries, use of physical restraint, and unplanned weight loss. On 1 July 2021, the QI Program was updated and expanded, and now includes 2 additional quality indicators (falls and major injury; medication management). This is the AIHW’s first quarterly publication on the expanded QI Program, reporting residential aged care quality indicator data from July–September 2021.
