Ending Costly Inequities in Pediatric Health Care

Disparities in access and quality of care can be particularly costly for pediatric patients, but many children’s hospital systems are working to address and overcome these inequities, said panelists during a recent webinar hosted by U.S. News & World Report. Achieving equity means many things, among them diversifying the hospital’s workforce at all levels. And moving toward a more equitable system also extends beyond the walls of the hospital itself into the community, where partnerships with local leaders can help improve access to health care for underserved and marginalized populations. The Webinar cites examples from Arkansas Children’s, Childen’s Minnesota, Stanford Children’s Health and Nemours Children’s Health on how they are working to address and overcome health inequities illuminated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
