LASI Study Finds 49% of Aged Patients in India Admitted to Government-run Hospitals in 2017-18

Times of India writes: The Health Ministry in India released the first part (2017-18) of the world’s largest study on the aged – the longitudial Aging Study in India (LASI). The study showed forty-nice per cent of patients aged 60 years and above have received inpatient care in hospitals run by the government one year prior to the survey, while the rest (51.1%) got admitted to private hospitals for treatment.

More than 56% of those who were admitted to government hospitals for treatment rated the quality of care as good. The survey asked respondents to rate healthcare facilities based on waiting time, privacy, cleanliness, interpersonal communication and getting a healthcare of choice.
