The Times of Malta reports that infection data for Malta’s hospitals does not feature in COVID-19 reports by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) because the data provided by the local authorities is deemed not of the quality needed for inclusion.
The ECDC, an EU agency, publishes daily and weekly reports on the pandemic across Europe and other countries. A spokesperson for the ECDC said the agency currently does not have recent good quality data on hospital and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admissions reported officially from Malta, and therefore Malta’s hospital situation did not feature in the latest report.
The weekly reports, in the form of downloadable data files, from the ECDC contain information about hospitalisation and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission rates and current occupancy for COVID-19 by date and country. The file is updated weekly.
