The State of Indiana moves a step closer to achieving greater health care cost transparency, with the release of a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Indiana Department of Administration (IDOA) on behalf of the Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) for an All Payer Claims Database. The IDOI is gathering information about establishing an APCD to receive data and maintain information on claims paid by insurers, health maintenance organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, and other payers in Indiana. Proposals to be submitted by November 30, 2020.
In March, we posted news (AHT, 3/10/2020) of the Indiana Senate and House voting to approve Senate Bill 5, which would establish an All-Payer Claims Database and require hospitals, outpatient surgery centers and urgent care facilities to publish average prices of services to their websites
