Cost information for new procedures has been added to Maryland Health Care Commission’s WearTheCost.org Website, including Bariatric surgery, C sections, Colorectal Resection, Gallbladder surgery, Lumbar Laminectomy, and Lumbar spinal fusion. The Website also contains cost information for common nonemergent procedures at hospitals in Maryland, including hip replacements, knee replacements, hysterectomies and vaginal births.
The WearTheCost Website allows residents to look up the cost and quality of certain procedures at the state’s hospitals to promote consumerism and transparency. WearTheCost.org provides Maryland consumers with the average total cost for ten common episodes of care at many Maryland hospitals.
