Latest Quarterly Data Refresh on CMS Dialysis Compare

The latest quarterly dialysis facility compare data refresh has been posted to CMS Dialysis Facility Compare Website on April 22 2020. Dialysis Facility Compare provides details on dialysis facilities (centers) across the country, including how well each dialysis center delivers care and the services they provide, and patient experiences with dialysis centers.

This quarterly data refresh included:

1. Removing waste from blood (dialysis adequacy) and nutritional status

  • Adult patients who had enough wastes removed from their blood during hemodialysis (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)
  • Adult patients who had enough wastes removed from their blood during peritoneal dialysis (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)
  • Children who had enough wastes removed from their blood during hemodialysis (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)
  •  Children who had enough wastes removed from their blood during peritoneal dialysis (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)
  • Children who had a monthly normalized protein catabolic rate (nPCR) measured during in-center hemodialysis (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)

2. Using the most effective access to the bloodstream (vascular access)

  • Adult patients who received treatment through an arteriovenous fistula (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)
  • Adult patients who had a catheter (tube) left in a vein for at least 3 consecutive complete months, for their regular hemodialysis treatments (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)

3. Keeping a patient’s mineral levels in balance (mineral & bone disorder)

  • Adult patients who had too much calcium in their blood (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)

 4. Transplant Waitlist

  • Patients who were on the kidney or kidney-pancreas transplant waiting list (07/01/2018 – 06/30/2019)

5. Avoiding hospitalizations & deaths

  • Frequency of hospital admission (01/01/2018 – 12/31/2018)
  • Frequency of hospital readmission (01/01/2018 – 12/31/2018)
  • Frequency of patient death (01/01/2015 – 12/31/2018)
