Statistical Analysis of Patient Safety Incidents in England NHS Trusts/Foundation Trusts

This Monitoring Care Data report focuses on the number of statutory notifications for deaths, serious injuries and abuses the National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) has received from NHS organisations; and whether or not the level of reporting is statistically significant (high or
low) over the course of a fixed period of time – over the course of one year – with England.

Statistical Monitoring of Patient Safety Incidents reported to the NRLS by English NHS trusts and foundation trusts – – acts as An Early Warning System – – to identify significant patterns or volumes of reporting for patient safety incidents. This independent research uses data published each month by NHS England and NHS Improvement of the last twelve months (March 2019-Feb 2020) of incidents; – to examine NHS Trust reporting applying ‘statistical monitoring’.
