The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) released a new report – Private health insurance report 2018-19. The report analyses key competition and consumer developments and trends in the private health insurance industry in Australia between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019, including ACCC enforcement and other actions relating to the health sector.
It is the 21st report prepared by the ACCC in compliance with an order agreed to by the Australian Senate, requiring the ACCC to provide a report on: ‘… any anti-competitive practices by health insurers or providers, which reduce the extent of health cover for consumers and increase their out-of-pocket medical and other expenses.’
