Updated Information on MA Hospital Performance in Relation to Costs, Quality of Care

Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) released updated information on acute and non-acute hospitals in Massachusetts over a five-year period through Fiscal Year 2018. The Massachusetts Hospital Profiles provide descriptive and comparative information on acute and non-acute hospitals based on hospital characteristics, services, payer mix, utilization trends, cost trends, financial performance, and quality over a five-year period. The data used for these profiles is a compilation of payer and provider-submitted data sources, including hospital audited financial statements, hospital cost reports, hospital discharge data, and relative price data. The Profiles enable comparison against statewide and peer cohorts for each measure. This publication also includes an interactive dashboard for all acute hospitals, allowing users to filter results by individual hospital, hospital type, and system affiliation.
