ECRI Institute Report Identifies Diagnostic Errors as Top Patient Safety Risk in Ambulatory Care Settings

A new ECRI Institute report identifies diagnostic errors as the top patient safety risk in ambulatory care settings, writes Health Leaders. In an analysis of more than 4,300 ambulatory care patient safety events, diagnostic testing errors accounted for the most events (47%). The second most common ambulatory care patient safety event was related to medication (27%). Patient falls were the third most common ambulatory care patient safety event, accounting for 14% of the total.
