Clear Health Costs Partner with CBS News on Healthcare Price Transparency Initiative

Clear Health Costs are partnering with CBS News to report on and collect prices of common health-care procedures. Prices (cash or self-pay prices) are available for a few common ‘shoppable’ medical procedures in the Dallas and San Francisco metro areas. For those outside of these areas, the Medicare rate is displayed. Consumers are also encouraged can contribute prices to the database. Pricing is available for the more common medical procedures including Imaging; Women’s health; Men’s health; Blood tests; Dental, Cosmetic or discretionary etc.

ClearHealthCosts has done similar partnerships with > WVUE Fox 8 Live and NOLA.com I The Times-Picayune in New Orleans; The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Daily News, philly.com and 6ABC Action News in Philadelphia; WLRN public radio in Miami, WUSF public radio in Tampa-St. Petersburg, the partnership they share titled Health News Florida, KQED public radio in San Francisco, KPCC public radio in Los Angeles, WHYY public radio in Philadelphia, and MedPage Today, a supplier of information for 670,000 providers nationwide. ClearHealthCosts also did a similar, smaller, pilot project in 2013 with WNYC public radio in New York City. The partners asked people for the prices of mammograms, and almost 400 people responded over the course of three weeks. Thousands of people have shared and searched prices via these partnerships.
