CIVHC: Medicare FFS and All Payer Quality Measure Comparisons Now Publicly Available

As part of the Qualified Entity Certification Program (QECP), CIVHC has published quality measures that compare Breast Cancer Screening and Diabetes A1c testing rates for Medicare Fee for Service (FFS), Medicaid, Commercial and Medicare Advantage claims in the Colorado All Payer Claims Database (CO APCD). The two quality measures are based on based on nationally endorsed specifications, and include trend information from 2013-2017 as well as demographic and geographic breakouts. This information is based on claims data for the vast majority of insured Coloradans, but does not reflect self-pay, the uninsured, some people covered by self-insured employer plans, or those covered under Federal programs like the VA, TRICARE, or Indian Health Services

Over time, CIVHC will seek approval from CMS to publish additional quality measures intended to help public health agencies, providers and others to understand variation in quality and improve care for Coloradans. This is the first step in the process towards the goal of publishing provider-specific information on cost and quality for Medicare and other payers.
