Release of The State Laws Impacting Healthcare Cost and Quality Database

The Source on Healthcare Price & Competition, at the UC Hastings College of Law, is launching (May 17 2019) The State Laws Impacting Healthcare Cost and Quality (SLIHCQ) Database, in partnership with Catalyst for Payment Reform (CPR). The SLIHCQ Database, initially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is an interactive tool that catalogues ongoing state legislative efforts to implement healthcare reform. The SLIHCQ Database is the natural extension of The Source’s existing legislation tracker that covers all 50 U.S. states, originally launched in 2015.

The database houses state legislation governing price transparency, provider market power, provider payment, provider networks and health insurance benefit design. The purpose of the database is to help purchasers, states, and policy makers understand their legal and regulatory environment as they make efforts to improve access, quality, efficiency and reduce costs in health care and to serve as a publicly- available, interactive tool for researchers and other stakeholders to learn more about state legal and regulatory environments, including the functionality to search which states have specific legislation in place. The database will contain legislation relating to price transparency, provider payment, provider networks, benefit design, and market power for all 50 states.
