Discontinuing of Reporting of HAIs from ASCs Recommended by Texas Healthcare Safety Advisory Committee

Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society writes the Healthcare Safety Advisory Committee recommends discontinuing reporting of HAIs from ambulatory surgical centers until the National Healthcare Safety Network provides statistical analyses for infections occurring in this type of healthcare setting. Currently, HAI data obtained from ASCs is limited and not statistically significant. The Healthcare Safety Advisory Committee is made up of 13 members of the community, healthcare, and public health. The committee meets 3 to 4 times a year to discuss ways to improve patient safety and the public reporting.
