Data has been updated on both Long-term Care Hospital (LTCH) Compare and Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) Compare Websites as part of the March 2019 quarterly update.
The LTCH Compare refresh included updated quality measure results based on data submitted to CMS between Quarter 2 – 2017 through Quarter 1 – 2018. Over 420 long-term care hospitals report data to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), as part of its Long-term Care Hospital Quality Reporting Program (QRP).
Measures reported on LTCH Compare include:
Complications (Healthcare-acquired conditions):- Rate of pressure ulcers that are new or worsened
- Percentage of LTCH patients who experience one or more falls with major injury during their LTCH stay
- Percentage of patients whose activities of daily living and thinking skills were assessed and related goals were included in their treatment plan
- Percentage of LTCH patients whose functional abilities were assessed and functional goals were included in their treatment plan
- Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI)
- Central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI)
- Clostridium difficile infection (CDI)
- Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacterial infection
- Influenza vaccination coverage among healthcare personnel
- Percent of residents/patients assessed and appropriately given influenza vaccine
- Rate of potentially preventable hospital readmissions 30 days after discharge from an LTCH
- Rate of successful return to home or community from an LTCH
- Medicare Spending Per Beneficiary (MSPB) for patients in LTCHs
