The Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI) is developing an interactive data portal that will be released in the first half of 2019, as part of their commitment to deliver high quality, timely and actionable data to drive quality and safety improvement.
When VAHI was established in 2017, it assumed responsibility for much of the health service reporting previously done by the Department of Health and Human Services (the Department). This included responsibility for existing reports that were previously produced by the Department (including Monitor and PRISM), as well as developing new reports for boards and clinicians with a specific focus on quality and safety.
The new portal will transform their approach to reporting the measures contained in these reports by making the information digital, interactive and customisable.
The portal’s functions will be released in stages. The first release will focus on a redevelopment of the existing Victorian Health Services Performance website (performance.health.vic.gov.au). It will also establish the security infrastructure that will allow more granular information to be provided to authorised users (clinicians and health services). The second release will provide health professionals with the ability to explore the data that sits behind the quality, safety and other relevant performance measures.
