NYC Council Takes on Lack of Price Transparency of Medical Procedures

A committee of the New York City Council is scheduled on Monday to address the question of varying costs for medical procedures among the city’s various hospital systems, writes The Wallstreet Journal. The question is why common procedures cost more at some hospitals and why consumers don’t have ready information on costs to shop around for care.  The leader of the Council’s new Hospitals committee (Carlina Rivera) said committee members are looking at ensuring that care remains affordable and costs of care are transparent.
