The Bureau of Health Information (BHI) released report on the development of patient experience key performance indicators for local health districts in NSW. The report presents key issues related to developing key performance indicators and benchmarks from patient experience surveys. The report highlights the analysis conducted to validate index scores of patient experience, engagement, and a score for respect and dignity to benchmark performance of local health districts. As a result of this work, BHI demonstrated that the following three measures provide a broad assessment of some of the most important elements of patient experience: an overall patient experience index which includes four survey questions, and a patient engagement index which includes six survey questions, and a respect and dignity single question score.
