County Health Rankings data explores health factors such as access to healthy foods, rates of smoking, and children living in poverty coupled with the rich collection of evidence-informed strategies are helping counties move with data to action to create healthier, more equitable communities. Public health experts and decision-makers identified a need for localized health data not only at the county level, but also at the city level. To fill this gap, the City Health Dashboard launched last month, featuring city- and neighborhood-specific data on 36 factors that shape health for the 500 largest U.S. cities, or those with a population of 66,000 or more. This new one-stop resource helps city leaders identify health challenges and access evidence-informed resources, including What Works for Health strategies, to drive change. The City Health Dashboard is the newest resource in the data toolbox that is helping communities better understand their health and leverage the power of data to improve health for all.
