CA: New Antipsychotic Measure Added to QASP

The California Department of Public Health has confirmed that it will include an Antipsychotic Medication Usage measure in the Quality and Accountability Supplemental Payment Program (QASP) beginning in the 2018-2019 performance period (starting July 1, 2018). The first QASP payments that would be calculated using this new measure will be the April 2020 payments.  CDPH recognized that the CMS antipsychotic measure does not exclude conditions for which antipsychotic medications are appropriately prescribed, such as manic depression, psychotic disorder, and traumatic brain injury. The ‘California Specific Antipsychotic Medications Measure’is similar to the CMS measure, with the exception that additional excluded diagnosis are included.
