Home health quality data has been refreshed on CMS Home Health Compare (data updated January 24, 2018) as follows:

1. Quality of patient care measures:

  • Managing daily activities (3 measures)  – reporting data for time period 16Q2_17Q1
  • Managing pain and treating symptoms (3 measures) – reporting data for time period 16Q2_17Q1
  • Preventing harm (8 measures) – reporting data for time period 16Q2_17Q1
  • Preventing unplanned hospital care (4 measures) – reporting data to 17Q1
  1. How often home health patients had to be admitted to the hospital: 16Q2_17Q1
  2. How often patients receiving home health care needed any urgent, unplanned care in the hospital emergency room – without being admitted to the hospital: 16Q2_17Q1
  3. How often home health patients, who have had a recent hospital stay, had to be re-admitted to the hospital: 14Q2- 17Q1
  4. How often home health patients, who have had a recent hospital stay, received care in the hospital emergency room without being re-admitted to the hospital: 14Q2- 17Q1

Data collection period for the quality of patient care star ratings:
The quality of patient care star ratings are calculated by combining data for a number of individual quality measures, so they’re based on data from a combination of the data collection time periods shown above.
