WV: Legislature Pass Bill to Close WV Health Care Authority

In West Virginia, this past Legislative session, the Legislature passed a bill (SB 457) to close the West Virginia Health Care Authority (WVHCA).  As of July 1, 2017 the WVHCA will no longer exist and data collection will end at this point.   One of the operations of the WVHCA was the collection, analysis, and dissemination of health care financial and clinical data to assess utilization, access, costs, and quality.  CompareCareWV, a project of the WVHCA, provided information on West Virginia hospital charges and patient quality care indicators.
