20 Major US Companies Form Health Transformation Alliance and Focus on Employees' Health Data

Last week twenty of America’s largest corporations announced they have joined together to form Health Transformation Alliance, with a goal to improve the way health care benefits will be purchased for employees in an effort to create better health care outcomes. To do this, they will pool their employees health data, which they have commenced collecting with the aim of launching pilot initiatives in the next year.  An article in Forbes suggests that this makes it open season on employees’ health data. The companies involved in these projects are gathering data that could wind up being highly disruptive within their industries, writes Forbes. Companies that don’t have the ability to source such info, or perhaps don’t have the stomach for it, will find themselves at a disadvantage.
