The Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) released its annual report on the performance of the Massachusetts health care system. Each year, CHIA reports on the performance of the Massachusetts health care system in order to monitor cost and quality trends over time and to inform policy-making. This report is the third annual look at these trends since the passage of the Commonwealth’s 2012 cost containment legislation.
The report found that spending for MassHealth increased by $2.4 billion (+19%) while enrollment increased by 23%. The quality of Massachusetts providers was generally at or above national benchmark, but there was performance variation among providers.
