Employers, insurers and business assocations urge Congress to make cost data more widely available

Modern Healthcare writes: Many consumers think that higher prices mean better quality healthcare, but that belief may be wrong, a group of employers, insurers and business associations told Congress this week. The only real way to gauge the value of healthcare is to gather and publish objective data in standardized and transparent ways so that insurers, governments and individuals can accurately judge the price and quality of the care they’re buying. That’s why a coalition of national organizations and large employers is appealing to Congress to embed stronger data-transparency principles into federal law.
