The Niagara Health Quality Coalition (NHQC) will hold its annual state-wide media briefing event via conference call to preview the release of the tenth annual New York State Hospital Report Card(SM) at 12:00 NOON on Wednesday, August 7th, 2013. Individual hospital results will be made available for confidential media analysis beginning on Wednesday morning to all approved media that request it; and we will answer your questions at the noon media briefing. Hospital results in the report are EMBARGOED until Sunday morning, August 11, 2013.
This tenth annual state-of-the-art report offers updated measures that evaluate care at every hospital in the state. Measures include mortality rates, error rates, surgical infection rates, appropriate utilization rates, pain management and overall patient satisfaction with clinical care. Beginning in 2009, NHQC added two new aggregate reports focusing exclusively on evaluating hospitals’ safety performance results. These reports are:
1) “Americas Safest Hospitals(SM)” for New York State and
2) “Patient Safety Watch List Hospitals(SM)” for New York State (must phone NHQC to receive in advance)
