The National Health Service and Public Health Service in England: Secretary of State’s Annual Report 2011/2012, released by the Department of Health, reports on the performance of the health service in relation to a number of quality indicators set out in the NHS Framework including wait time in A&E, access to medication, access to physcological therapies (IAPT) and rate of MRSA iand C diffcile infections.
As required by legislation, from 1 April 2013, the Secretary of State for Health must produce an annual report for Parliament, setting out how the NHS in England has performed that year. This report was published a year earlier than is required, to enable Parliament and the public to see the direction the health service is heading.
