Massachusetts Department of Public Health released its second report on healthcare associated infections within Massachusetts Acute Care Hospitals, reporting on data from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2011. Hospitals in Massachusetts are required to report infections related to five categories of surgery to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, including coronary artery bypass surgery, knee and hip replacements, abdominal hysterectomies and vaginal hysterectomies.
