CA OSHPD releases hospital mortality rates for bypass surgery

The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) has publicly released its report on coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery in California, reporting on 2007 data. Report on outcomes from this type of surgery has been released by this department since 2003, in part to improve the performance of the 121 hospitals in California that perform the procedure.   This year’s report also tracked the number of strokes that occurred within 72 hours of surgery, a common complication of surgery.
