State officials released the Oregon Healthcare Acquired Infections Report on Monday, reporting state- and hospital-level data for 2009.
Oregon is one of 10 states requiring hospitals to disclose infections linked to hospital exposure. The Oregon state legislature passed House Bill 2524 in 2007 to create a mandatory HAI Reporting Program in an effort to raise awareness, promote transparency for healthcare consumers and to motivate hospitals to prioritize prevention. This is the first annual report on HAIs for Oregon under the Oregon HAI Reporting Program and focuses on the following infections:
* Central Line Bloodstream Infections (CLABSI)
* Surgical Site infections (SSIs)
