A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (April 1 issue) finds that hospitals scoring well on the Leapfrog Group’s Safe Practices Survey do not appear to have lower mortality than other hospitals. The survey ranks hospitals in quartiles based on their self-reported actions to implement a subset of the Safe Practices for Better Healthcare endorsed by the National Quality Forum. The study found no relationship between the scores and in-hospital mortality. Read full study
