The Eagle Tribune Online reports on pending legislation in New Hampshire that would allow the state to fine hospitals up to $1,000 a day for failure to report their infection rates. The bill received unanimous support last week from the House Ways and Means Committee and goes to the House floor for a vote today.

In 2007, a New Hampshire law went into effect that required hospitals to report their infection rates. But funding for the reporting mechanism was later cut.
