The Sydney Morning Herald writes of the overhaul to the NSW health system’s public reporting, with an independent bureau being appointed to collect, analyse and report on the safety and quality of patient care in public hospitals.

The independent bureau will identify, develop and publish patient care measurements such as a patient’s ability to gain access to hospital services and other community and home-based health services, as well as how quickly a patient could access services and how far they needed to travel from home to receive care. Clinical performance including the outcome and quality of treatment will also be published as well as the costs of care.
