Scotland: New reporting on hospital infection rates

Scottish hospital infection rates will be published every two months in a bid to improve monitoring and transparency, the Scottish Government has announced, writes Health Insurance Magazine

All health boards will now be required to report rates of MRSA and Clostridium Difficile (C.diff) for each hospital and provide comparisons against the national average and national targets.

The infection rate in Scotland is currently 9.5% and the Scottish Government is spending £54m over three years to achieve a 30% reduction in infections by 2010.
