The Maryland Health Care Commission has published its annual report of managed-care insurers. The expanded report on health plan quality, Measuring the Quality of Maryland Commercial Managed Care Plans: 2008/2009 Health Plan Performance Report, compares the performance of commercial managed care plans operating in Maryland.
The report contains a comparative analysis of clinical and member satisfaction measures for preferred provider organizations (PPOs). Four major health care providers in the state have joined together to voluntarily collect and report PPO comparative data in 2008. The providers are Aetna, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, CIGNA, and United Healthcare.
