Modern Healthcare: The first wave of results from the annual Leapfrog Group survey is now online at the patient-safety organization’s Web site.
Some 1,169 hospitals have answered questions about preventing medical errors, high-risk surgeries, the effectiveness of procedures and the prevalence of adverse events, also known as “never events,” in their facilities. The current results of the survey, which was redesigned this year, shows individual hospital performance in six categories. Full results that compare how hospitals as a group are performing in safety and quality categories will be released over the next few months, and Leapfrog plans to announce its top 10 hospitals in September.
Consumers can use the individual results to see how hospitals are tracking conditions and medical errors, Leapfrog’s Chief Executive Officer Leah Binder said in a news release.
