Vaginal Delivery with Sterilization and/or Dilation and Curettage (D&C)

Frequency: Quarterly

Measure Type: Cost

Utilization rates and hospital charges provide information to consumers about maternity and newborns from Utah’s hospitals. The data is also updated quarterly from the Department of Health. The reports are derived from hospital claim records. The measures are developed from The Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ).

One of the categories is on cesarean section (C-section). This is where surgery is performed on the mother to deliver the baby because vaginal birth is not possible. Unfortunately there may be complications having a c-section, in which it is best to have prior knowledge as to which hospital provides adequate care.
