Medical Errors Costing U.S. Billions

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are currently implementing changes to the way they pay hospitals. Based on the report from U.S. News & World Report, medical errors are costing the U.S. billions. Hospitals have taken steps to reduce medical errors, but unfortunately this has not brought down (nationally) the overall percentage.

Beginning in October 2008, CMS will stop reimbursing hospitals for the treatment of eight preventable errors.
